Benriach 30 Year Old Single Malt Whisky 700ml

This whisky has matured for a minimum of thirty years in a combination of four distinct cask types; these include ex-bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks, ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, and ex-Douro Valley Port Casks. The whisky resulting from these different woods is subsequently skilfully blended by the Master Blender at Benriach to craft an extraordinarily balanced malt. The whisky from each cask type, enriched with distinct flavour characteristics, is meticulously fused together to create a lavish single malt laden with dark fruits, abundant walnut, and smooth oak spice, culminating in a lingering, complex, smoked honey finish. All elements are harmoniously balanced.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma: Exudes a warm, sweet fragrance, complemented by a hint of salty sea air and a subtle note of musk towards the end.

Flavour: Presents a notably robust texture. An array of stone fruits introduces some vegetal grassiness, with any apparent bitterness being balanced with spice, before returning to a fruit prior with the warmth of sun-ripened peach. The peated component requires some time to develop, emerging at the end of the sip more as a surprise than a constant feature. A hint of cocoa towards the end offsets the sweet brightness of the spirit.
